Who we are
Lighthouse Green Fuels is building the largest advanced second-generation SAF facility of its kind globally in Teesside. Backed by Alfanar Projects' global engineering and renewable energy expertise, our team is united by a single purpose: to cut aviation emissions at scale with proven, ready-to-deploy sustainable aviation fuel.

Vision, Mission & Values
Our Mission
Lighthouse Green Fuels is enabling commercial-scale production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel from sustainably sourced biomass in the UK.
Our mission is clear: to strengthen UK fuel security, reduce reliance on imports and create long-term economic and industrial value for Teesside and the wider UK.
Our Promises
We promise to strengthen the UK’s aviation fuel supply by producing SAF at scale in Teesside. Our technology is designed to meet the needs of today’s aircraft while supporting domestic jobs, skills, investment and industrial capability.
We build partnerships rooted in trust and transparency, creating lasting value for Teesside with benefits that reach far wider.
Our Values
Our values define how we work and deliver. We act collaboratively and with integrity, building open and accountable relationships. We are forward-looking, committed to sustainability, and proactive in finding solutions. Above all, we take responsibility seriously - with safety and honesty guiding every decision, keeping both our skies and our intentions clear.
Our commitment to decarbonise aviation
Aviation’s net zero future depends on new fuels at scale. We’re committed to delivering advanced SAF that meets international targets and creates lasting value in the UK.
The global challenge
Aviation is one of the hardest sectors to decarbonise. According to IATA, around 65% of aviation’s emissions cuts by 2050 must come from SAF. At the same time, growing demand for SAF creates a strategic opportunity for countries to build resilient domestic fuel supplies, manufacturing capability and new sources of economic value.
Our answer in the UK
Lighthouse Green Fuels is scaling second-generation SAF at industrial level. By producing 180m litres of drop-in fuel each year, LGF will create a large-scale domestic source of low-carbon aviation fuel, helping reduce reliance on imports while supporting UK jobs, investment and industrial capability.

From Teesside to the skies
Lighthouse Green Fuels is building Europe’s largest advanced SAF facility - a multibillion-pound project on Seal Sands, Teesside. Each year, it will produce 180m litres of SAF and 30m litres of renewable naphtha, creating thousands of jobs and anchoring Teesside at the heart of aviation’s transition to net zero.

United in purpose: a team with global expertise and local commitment
Lighthouse Green Fuels is led by experienced engineers, project managers, and sustainability experts, drawing on Alfanar’s global capabilities in clean energy and infrastructure delivery. Backed by 28,000 staff across 24 countries, Alfanar brings five decades of proven experience - from solar and wind to digital grids and industrial systems - to deliver the UK’s flagship SAF facility in Teesside.

Behind Lighthouse Green Fuels is a parent company with a truly global footprint: Alfanar Projects
With a global renewable power portfolio over 3GW, Alfanar Projects develops, constructs and operates ambitious energy and infrastructure projects worldwide.
Projects include:
- Project Lanuza, Spain – a 500 MW wind farm, supplying clean power to European grids.
- Alfa Solar, Egypt – a 50 MW solar PV facility, cutting CO₂ emissions by 70,000 tonnes a year.
- NEOM Residences, Saudi Arabia – sustainable living for 50,000 people in one of the world’s biggest giga-projects.
This same proven capability in green energy now underpins the multibillion-pound investment in Teesside that will be one of the world’s largest second-generation SAF facilities.
