A major investment in Teesside and beyond
Lighthouse Green Fuels represents a multibillion-pound investment in Teesside and a significant addition to the region's clean energy and advanced manufacturing economy.
The economic impact will begin during the four-year construction programme, with around £1.3 billion expected to be spent directly in Teesside between 2029 and 2032, supporting on-site construction, local fabrication and specialist suppliers.
Independent analysis by Arup forecasts around £700 million in GVA for the Teesside economy during construction, with 7,070 FTE job-years supported directly in Teesside.

Creating skilled careers for Teesside and beyond
LGF will create employment at every stage of the project, from construction through to long-term operations. At peak construction, around 2,200 people are expected to work on site, with further jobs supported through the wider economy. Once operational, the facility will support more than 320 permanent skilled roles, across engineering, process operations, maintenance and other specialist functions.

These roles will require a broad range of technical and professional skills, creating opportunities for engineers, technicians, operators, skilled trades and others to build careers in sustainable fuel production. LGF is working with colleges, universities, training providers and regional partners to help develop the skills needed for the project and the wider SAF industry. For Teesside's existing industrial workforce, the project provides an opportunity to apply established expertise in a new area of manufacturing.

The next chapter in Teesside's industrial story
Teesside has been at the heart of Britain's industrial economy for generations. LGF will build on that heritage, bringing a major brownfield site at Seal Sands back into productive industrial use. The project will create a new commercial-scale sustainable aviation fuel facility, combining advanced technology with the infrastructure, workforce and industrial expertise already established in the region.
